injury rehabilitation
what to do when injured

With both strains and sprains the treatment in the first 2-3 days is vital to the recovery, which could take several weeks to clear up completely. Along with calling your sports massage therapist, the treatment regime of RICE will assist in a much faster recovery.

R – REST
Resting will help slow down any bleeding and reduces the risk of further damage.

I – ICE
Ice eases the pain, reduces bleeding and swelling.

C – COMPRESSION
Compression (bandaging from above to below the injury site) will reduce bleeding and swelling.

E – ELEVATION
Limbs should be elevated to facilitate gravity as a means of slowing the blood flow and reduce swelling.

If you have any doubts on what to do when you are first injured then give us a call. In most cases we will get you to RICE for 2-3 days before seeing you to start your rehabilitation – see the time scales for how injuries heal.
