Relaxation Massage (also called Body Massage or Swedish Massage) is a therapy with the emphasis on the improvement of physical, mental and spiritual well-being. It has many benefits which all lead to the promotion of relaxation.

Techniques include gentle stroking, lifting, squeezing, striking, tapping and shaking of the skin and tissues. This promotes reduction of tension in muscles and increased flexibility.

Relaxation is becoming more important as an increasing number of us work in fixed positions behind desks and on computers. When we are more relaxed we tend to have more energy, an improved outlook on life and even reduced likelihood of injury and illness. Relaxation Massage can also relieve conditions that are aggravated by anxiety such as asthma or insomnia.

Massage movements accelerate blood flow, hasten venous return and stimulate lymphatic drainage. This helps with the removal of toxic build up, and increases the flow of blood, oxygen and nutrients to the cells, resulting in healthier muscles and bones. By increasing circulation, build up of fluid caused by prolonged sitting, standing, travel or pregnancy, are reduced.
